Happy to Heal Context

Happy to Heal set out to improve home physiotherapy with a smart knee brace, using sensors to track knee angles and share data with patients, surgeons, and physiotherapists.

The Challenge

The goal was to advance the product from development (TRL6) towards market readiness, refining the proof of concept and validating it through market research.

Our Approach

We implemented a three-stage strategy:

  • Technology Review and Prototyping: Developed a cost-effective sensor for knee measurement and created both low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Platform Development and Testing: Built and user-tested the platforms for patients, surgeons, and physiotherapists.
  • Branding and Market Strategy: Established the brand identity, business model, and market entry plan.

The Solution

Impact

The project resulted in a refined product-service system and a market launch roadmap. We validated a new, simpler knee measurement technology, improving home physiotherapy adherence. The leap in readiness levels demonstrated progress towards market launch, with user-centric design, extensive testing, and strategic branding paving the way for impactful innovation in physiotherapy.
